Understanding French wine
If you've heard that French wine is great but have never been that impressed, read on to find out why. We'll also show how we can get you quality French wine from £7 a bottle. If you like your wine and want to drink the good stuff, read on!
Why is it so hard to find affordable quality French wine?
It's not that most large wine retailers don't stock quality French wine, but they also stock a vast amount of wine that is very unspecial indeed, since its good economics.

So when it comes to finding that excellent wine from the dozens on the shelves, it's very much a case of pot luck.

And what do you find in a mixed case? A few great wines you'll be happy to drink again, mixed in with the so-sos that end up at someone else's barbecue.

Another reason many people miss out on great wine from France is that some of the best wines come from small independent producers. As such they cannot provide the volumes of wine to supply the demands of some large retailers.

That's where wine merchants such as ourselves come in. Our job is to care more about the quality of the product, and we can also deal in the smaller numbers of cases that are produced.

To find out how Wine Trading Ltd can supply you with only the good wine, read on.

Four reasons why people don't buy French wine
France produces some of the best wine in the world that reaches the highest prices. So why do people steer clear of it?

1
. They don't know where to start. That's no surprise since there are literally thousands of vineyards in the country, and regions that produce entirely different wines in taste and quality.

2. It's too expensive. French wine boasts some of the highest prices in the world, but would you pay £1,000 for a bottle?

3. There's too much variety. How can you tell one label from another, when one wine from Chateau de la Tour goes for a £5, while another from Chateau Latour for £500!

4. New World wines are much more approachable. Why spend ten pounds on a slightly insipid wine from Saint Emilion, when you can get a fruity, quaffable wine from Australia for £7?

But did you know that there is a huge amount of fanstastic French wine that beats hands down the commercial competition from the New World for the same price?

The problem is, you'll be hard pushed to find it on the supermarket shelves, or even in most off licences and big online retailers.
